Airports are at a critical crossroads of energy transition yet facing significant bottlenecks: limited grid capacity, a lack of existing infrastructure, and the prohibitive costs of extensive civil works. The pressure of rising energy expenditures and the urgent need for electrification, specifically green energy integration requires a smarter approach to power.
Energy-Efficient, Cost-Saving Electrification
As airports evolve into vital hubs for sustainable energy transformation, AEME leverages its technical expertise to bridge these gaps.
AEME developed the specialized solution based on a deep analysis of power requirements in hangar-based operations. By introducing renewable energy, energy storage systems, and charging infrastructure, we provide a green approach to electrification that is both energy-efficient and cost-saving.
The airport apron is a critical hub where flight crews and ground staff work in synergy to maintain seamless aircraft operations. This vital area is currently undergoing a green transformation as traditional equipment shifts toward a sustainable future. Electric buses, tow tractors, and other essential ramp vehicles are transitioning to zero-emission and silent power solutions. This evolution underscores a commitment to environmental responsibility by creating a quieter and cleaner operational environment for all airport personnel.
AEME integrates renewable energy, battery storage, and charging infrastructure to establish a highly efficient, low-carbon circular system for airport terminals. By leveraging photovoltaic power generation and intelligent energy storage, the system provides a comprehensive green energy alternative for terminal operations. This integrated approach ensures a sustainable power supply while optimizing energy efficiency across the entire airport infrastructure.
In 2016, we launched the world’s first PV + Energy Storage + GPU project at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, followed by a successful rollout at Dalian International Airport.
To date, our systems have accumulated 175,000 hours of usage, saving airlines €1.67 million in costs. Environmentally, we have reduced fuel consumption by 20,100 tons, cutting 63,000 tons of CO2 and 700.5 tons of $CO$ and NOx emissions.
